Do you have a passion for gelato and cafes? Java Grill is looking for a fun, energetic, and customer focused gelato scooper to join our exciting new team. You will be responsible for preparing gelato and other frozen desserts with a friendly, customer focused attitude. You are also responsible for teaching customers about our new and unique gelato flavors as well as giving them a unique experience. The gelato scooper will complete any other duties the manager assigns and will represent Java Grill in a professional manner.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare gelato and other products for customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Safely handle all machines during gelato preparation.
- Answer the telephone in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Answer customer questions regarding gelato flavors, preparation, etc., in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Prepare and sell gelato by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques as Java Grill provides.
- Maintain inventory by replenishing gelato supply; stocking equipment; maintaining supplies, toppings, etc. for the gelato bar.
- Document and report potential safety hazards and all accidents to the manager on duty.
- Responsible for maintaining the gelato machine and thoroughly cleaning it at the end of each business day or shift.
- Keep a clean and organized work area so co-workers and managers can locate resources and products as needed.
- Report all customer complaints to manager on duty and take necessary actions to resolve all issues.
- Communicate with co‐workers and manager to solve problems and improve the quality of gelato, coffee, and customer service.
- Be on time for scheduled shift and find someone to cover shifts when unable to work.
- Contribute to the profitability of the shop by identifying new products and sales methods.
Requirements:
- Passion for gelato
- Previous experience at a ice cream cafe or gelato shop preferred
- Knowledge and experience about gelato
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Register and cash handling experience
- Be able to stand for an extended length of time
- Applicants require flexible availability and ability to work weekends
